From Old Bridge Hut, follow open / clear terraces down the west bank of the Waiau. At the end of terraces a brief 4WD track sidles through manuka scrub to pass a steep section of valleyside before ending on lower flat at river level below. Increasingly scrubby flats can be followed downriver to the forks with the Jones.
