The Waiau may generally be crossed from the 4WD carpark at The Terraces to reach Jones Stream / Jervois Hut on the western side. Crossings were knee deep under early-morning moderate flows after snow.
Access to Jones / Jervois is up the spur between the two rivers on the upstream side.
