A large 8 bunk hut at 1100m on the range west of Lake Waikaremoana. 2 platforms provide plenty of sleeping. Tank water (leaking for many years) and woodburner. Loads of good firewood in the area. Very few visitors - principally because the tracks are in atrocious state: uncut since 1980s heading south, 1 cut since the 80's heading north or east from the hut. Nice spot - but intervening ranges block the hoped-for views of the lake.
