A good quality track built in about 2009 runs down the true right of the Makarora from the Blue Pools to the Young River. After pushing your way through the tourists on the Blue Pools Bridge follow the track down through bush and then across the edge of the Rainy Flats.Its on down through bush to climb up and over a small hill to reach the start of the Young Track where in 2010 there was a small shelter and a radio for contacting the Wilkin River jet boat company.
