Good section of broad ridges.

A clear ground trail leads south from Arete Hut across the tops. Followjng the easy ridgeline this crosses pot 1389, swings west then heads south to climb towards pt1470. 100m before the summit at pt1470, a ridge joins from the west - the route to Carkeek Hut.

Note: Described in the reverse direction to your journey

From pt1470, a decent ground trail follows the ridgeline north on good tops, passing the turnoff to Carkeek Hut via Lancaster after 100m. Arete Hut is reached after 2km of easy tops travel.
