An unmarked route drops SW off the Mokai Patea towards Colenso trig along the obvious ridgeline. Going is on open tussock for the most part, though the saddle between the two is scrubby. A reasonable ground trail exists through the scrubby sections. Basic map&compass skills required in poor visibility.
