From the Colenso turnoff, the track towards Ruahine Corner climbs over the Potae highpoint - one of several spectacular carved sandstone tors on the ridgeline. Descending the far side, a 2nd track junction is reached, where a track joins from the south from a saddle connecting Potae with the main range.
