From Cone Creek Hut, follow the track back down the valley for ~60m, crossing a side stream and heading up the slip. The exit point is on the TR (E1496013/ N5273908, ~900m) and is cairned.
A marked route takes you through a rocky gut to a saddle which provides views of the basin SE of Lake Morgan. Follow this route to sidle the hillslope and eventually enter the upper basin floor.
Climb a spur that dissects the two main streams draining the basin to a high point west of Pt 1368 and continue along the ridge to gain views of Lake Morgan.
Once on the main ridge surrounding Lake Morgan, either drop towards the lake or continue along the ridge NE to Pt 1343 and descend via a steep spur. If you continue along the ridge, commit to going to Pt 1343, as I dropped slightly early and encountered a lot of scrub.
