From the track junction, a good cut marked tramping track heads west over a knob and down a spur to the Donald River. Good campspots exist beside the river on the eastern bank.

From the river crossing, markers point across small flats to the spur to the east, where a cut, maintained, marked tramping track climbs 100m to the ridgeline. Crossing a small knob it reaches the signposted track junction after 800m.
