From Cascade hut to Kaipo saddle is a gentle 50min walk followed by a steeper descent into the Kaipo headwaters. The track follows the Kaipo downstream to the Kaipo river swing bridge. There is some riverbed travel with a few log jams, all easily passed, but a well marked track follows the true right for most of the way. There are 3 significant sections on the true left. The track is at times up to 100m above the river. A small waterfall and cascade are passed on the true right
