After crossing Sharp Cone the rdgeline and track climb again to the rolling highpoint at Umukarikari befoire starting a gradual descent. The track remains well used and well marked with poles. Finally, 1km before the hut, the end of the ridgeline is reached and the track cuts steeply down through manuka scrub to the valley floor below. The creek must be forded, but is small and would only pose problems in exceptional rainfall. The hut lies 2-300m beyond on a river terrace. 1.5-3 hrs Sharp Come to hut.
