Cross the bridge to the N (TR) and follow the track along the terrace, up a level and into the bush. Straight through the ropes course, the track climbs briefly to a 200m flat walk then begins the climb proper.
A well defined track to the bushline, then an obvious footpad with occasional cairns, continue to climb to 1549.
The current LINZ topo has this track marked as a poleline (above the treeline, there are occasional markers).
