Follow Blue River Track to headwaters, climb to Maori Saddle, descend into and then follow Okuru River until below Douglas Saddle. Take open spur upstream of Bright Water to the bushline, follow slopes to reach ridge south of Douglas Saddle, traverse slightly north and descend into Howe Creek.
