The wet-weather route starts at the first creek crossing south of Waiotauru Fork along the 4WD Oddlands Rd. On the north bank of the creek, pick up a tape marked route climbing steeply up the face to the east. This is roug, over boulder scree, and climbs 100m to hit the end of an old logging track.

Once on the logging track, follow it north then east until a junction where it ends, hitting a track running steeply up/down a spur. Drop 50m down this track, and pick up another logging track sidling SE again, heading upriver. This track crosses a couple of gullies and then drops to join the main Snowy River track, 200m upstream of the Tregar/Snowy confluence, and 60m above the river.
