From the saddle drop 50-60m then pick up a deer trail sidling the southern valleyside below bluffs and above the worst of the scrub. The trail swings north down a spur leading to the highest lone beech tree on a small knob 50m from the bushedge. From here the best route seems to be to follow the bushedge across the lip of the head basin and get onto the spur on the northern side where deer trails provide good, moderately steep access down to the main valley below.
